There are so many more games that I could include in this list of favorites, but again I would have to call it a tie again because of who I spent it with and the quirky misadventures that I would have in getting there.
I talked my brother into going to a Penguins game so he could see Mario Lemieux in live action. I blogged some of my thoughts on the primary blog, but this was back when I didn't push the journalism standard and made it more of a hockey diary. I remember getting tickets in the student rush program. It is a deal where you get to tickets for $20 bucks if you just flash them a valid college student ID. Well, I forgot it was a cash only ticket window and so we had to rely on the kindness of others to scrounge up enough to pay for the tickets. Our seats were high up in the nose-bleed section, but it was still great to watch from high up. The Penguins really embarrassed the Flyers over that Thanksgiving break game 7-2. Any game where the Flyers lose is a great game.
Another game that I was in attendance for was when I trekked through ice and snow for 3 hours to get to the Arena from State College, PA. It was a snowy evening and my friend Dan also wanted to see the Penguins in Mellon Arena. Still armed with my Student ID and the radio company gas card, we drove through a snowstorm for 3 hours to get there. Man it was a cold miserable day. The Penguins lost this game 3-1.
