Untapped Hockey Markets

Here is a few thoughts about cities that could have a new hockey team in years to come. Who would have thought that there would be hockey in Columbus, OH! From what I understand, they are really doing great for a fan base and a team that is still trying to shake off the expansion stigma.

Here are a few cities that could benefit from having an NHL franchise.

  • Las Vegas - They even have an owner with deep pockets in Bruckheimer ready and willing to try his hand at ownership. Vegas is really an interesting area with it billed as "one of the fastest growing cities in America". Currently, there is no professional team there now, but maybe we sports fans will see one there someday soon.
  • Hamilton - This Canadian city is just waiting for the promise of a NHL franchise when they have been given a few minor league teams. They are unfortunately stuck in a market that is already between Toronto and Buffalo. So, there is issues for this city to get around.

Hamilton can barely support a CFL team. I would push for Winnipeg again
